Brief Description

Johannesburg Business School (JBS) is contextualised by its identity as a public university business school located in Johannesburg South Africa.

Established in 2018 by the University of Johannesburg the JBS offered its first degree programme the MBA to its first student cohort in 2020. The JBS has grown exponentially as a fledgling emerging business school with almost 1000 academic students in 2024. The formal academic programmes have also proliferated which now feature postgraduate diplomas as well as a doctoral programme in addition to the MBA.

In summary the School has defined its purpose as follows: to produce thought leaders rooted in Africa with a global mindset. We accomplish this  through excellent responsible management education and the production of knowledge through applied research and innovation; contributing to humane societal impact and a sustainable future. JBS foregrounds digital transformation in all its endeavours.

Through broadening of access we transform African leaders into technology-adept innovative changemakers with a global mindset who will contribute to societal impact and sustainability.
