Meet the School

Nazarbayev University Graduate School of Business (NUGSB) established in 2013 is dedicated to advancing impactful research and delivering world-class educational programs that empower the business community and foster societal transformation.

NUGSB offers five flagship programs: Executive MBA (EMBA) Full-Time MBA (FTMBA) Master of Science in Finance (MSF) PhD in Business Administration (PhD in BA) and Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA).

In partnership with Duke University Fuqua School of Business NUGSB has built a distinguished faculty renowned for their research published in top-tier journals and their significant societal contributions. To further enhance global exposure NUGSB recently launched student exchange programs with prestigious institutions such as the London School of Economics and HKUST. Recognised as Central Asia top research-intensive business school by the UT Dallas ranking NUGSB continues to set the standard for academic and research excellence in the region.
Beyond academics NUGSB has a broad societal impact empowering women entrepreneurs advising the Kazakhstan Stock Exchange and helping the National Bank of Kazakhstan reshape its monetary policy. Faculty members incorporate their research into teaching providing students with transformative learning experiences. Hundreds of alumni from the EMBA and FTMBA programs now lead initiatives that create meaningful change.

In November 2023 NUGSB achieved accreditation from the Association of MBAs (AMBA) and the Business Graduates Association (BGA) and is nearing AACSB accreditation reinforcing its status as a leading global business school.

The mission of the Nazarbayev University Graduate School of Business (NUGSB) is to develop principled and innovative leaders while generating impactful knowledge that transforms business and society.

NUGSB draws inspiration from the broader mission of Nazarbayev University which seeks to serve as a model for higher education reform and modern research in Central Asia to position Astana as an international hub for knowledge innovation and healthcare and to prepare students to thrive in a rapidly changing interconnected and complex world. NUGSB aligns with this vision by focusing on areas most relevant to the school expertise with a strong emphasis on driving progress entrepreneurship financial innovation and development across the Central Asian region.
